These raw cacao nut butter energy balls made with oats, dates, vanilla, almond butter, and raw cacao powder are one of my all time favorite recipes! These taste like cake balls, but they are decidedly not cake balls, they are super healthy! These are vegan, gluten-free, oil-free & soy-free.
The perfect snack for on-the-go you can take them to work, school, or on trips. When I travel this is what I take with me to make sure I have something I like to eat. I took these on a road trip recently and brought extra for my family. My parents loved them so much they had me write down the recipe! I also have had friends with kids over and these are definitely kid approved. 😉
Recently my mother-in-law was visiting and she enjoyed these too, so I taught her how to make them and she texts me photos when she makes them, which is adorable. 🙂
These delicious cacao almond butter date balls are also an amazing craving buster! I made these a lot during Raw Food June anytime I was craving something that wasn’t raw. I highly recommend these if you are transitioning to a plant-based or raw food diet.
- 15 large medjool dates, pitted and halved
- 1 cup gluten-free old fashioned oats
- 3 tbsps raw cacao powder
- ½ tsp sea salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tsps maple syrup
- ¼ cup raw almond butter
- Put the dry ingredients then the wet ingredients in the food processor.
- Pulse or blend for 30 seconds to 1 minute till combined. The mixture will be crumbly but press together easily between your fingers.
- Roll into balls.
If you can't have almond butter try coconut butter or tahini instead.
These store for 2-3 days on the counter in a sealed container or for about 5 days if kept in the fridge.
