Every morning I have a green smoothie, it’s the best way to start the day! Right now organic kiwis are on sale so I just couldn’t resist them. I hope you are able to get them too and join my daily smoothie ritual.
Spinach, bananas, and kiwis are ‘super’ enough on their own but if you want to take it up a notch barley grass juice powder is mega nutritious. It contains all the minerals, nutrients, and plant-perfect proteins necessary in the human diet.
Barley grass juice powder has more calcium than cow’s milk, more iron than spinach or broccoli, more vitamin C than oranges, and more protein than steak (without the accompanying animal fat). It also helps to alkalize the body which prevents cancer and other diseases. So it is a very concentrated source of nutrients that will give you a big boost every day. Think of it as a whole-foods source ‘vitamin.’
- 6 ripe spotty bananas
- 2 kiwi fruits
- ⅓ cup dates, pitted
- 2 heaping cups spinach
- 1 tablespoon barley grass juice powder
- 3 cups water
- 2 cups ice
- Blend in a high-speed blender till smooth, frothy, and bright green. Enjoy!
If you don’t have barley grass juice powder, this smoothie tastes great without it, maybe cram in a few more handfuls of spinach or your favorite leafy green!

Hello, if I use frozen spinach in this recipe, how much should I use? Thank you!

I haven’t used frozen spinach in a smoothie before, since it’s not raw 🤔 but I think 2 cups would still work! You’ll need more water because adding frozen stuff will make it thicker. 😊🌱 I hope that helps!! Let me know if you try it how it goes. 💖
